Lakeview Sports Media
2024-2025 was the inaugural year for the Lakeview Sports Media class. Students in the class made graphics for the football scoreboard, interned with WBCK, attended the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) Fall Conference, attended the Journalism Education Association (JEA) Fall Conference in Philadelphia, and produced content for our student sports magazine broadcast Spartan Nation.

In-class projects will continue to include filming and editing sports promotions and conference reports, creating graphics packages for multiple sports, and creating content for the show. Our goal is to work toward producing/streaming live sporting event with multiple cameras, graphics, and play-by-play and color commentary. This course provides students the opportunity to run a fully functional TV studio. This class is responsible for running Spartan Nation, Lakeview’s sports media news magazine show. Students are able to experience all roles involved in creating a production. Roles range from lead anchor to more behind the scene jobs such as audio technician, floor director, and more. Students also learn how to interview, create news scripts, and develop news and feature stories using Final Cut. Students can be responsible for the athletic livestreams. Students may take this class more than one time. Students electing to take this class a second time may apply for management roles such as studio producer and news room director among others.
